About your host
Hi, I’m Trista Harris, the President of FutureGood and your guide for our retreat. I had all the trapping of success in the social sector: a fancy job title, a talented team that was making our community and world a better place, a well respected book that was helping people do big things in their careers, and highly paid speaking gigs but I was on the edge of a breakdown.
I had too many things to do, was working all of the time, was crabby with the people I love the most and I couldn’t remember what my big, hairy, audacious goal was.
I was just happy to make it through the day and collapse in my bed. I was terrified that I was going to die at my desk, surrounded by a pile of uncompleted work that didn’t add up to a large enough impact on the causes and communities I deeply care about.
I held my first retreat out of desperation and the hope that some time away with people that were also in my same predicament would give me some clues on how to move forward. It made all of the difference in the world. I found that for me and for the other retreat participants, we knew what our true callings were. We just needed to have enough time, space, and support to listen to what it was. We needed to be well taken care of. We needed a new community of cheerleaders and brilliant minds to help us see what was right in front of our noses. We needed to step away from our regular lives and imagine what was possible. We need to learn how to understand and create the future.
Retreat after retreat, I see participants make break throughs that change the trajectory of their lives. They get the big job. They quit the wrong job. They start businesses. They write books. They apply for the fellowship. They run for public office (and win!). They start learning to listen to their real heart’s desire. They become the version of themselves that they always hoped was possible.
I want that for YOU!
